“The condition of the hair cuticle, the protective outer layer of each strand, plays a significant role in determining the overall appearance and health of the hair.
What does damaged hair mean?
It means a condition in which the surface cuticles are being removed and hair elements are flowing through the cuticles. In particular, the loss of CMC (cell membrane complex) causes many gaps in the hair.
These “flow channels” not only allow the perm solution and coloring chemicals to penetrate deep into the hair, but also allow the protein to flow out of the hair. The important point of hair care is to fill these channels between the cuticles with treatment agents.
